Lemongrass Décor

Product Design, E-commerce & Marketing

Profile - a small business startup launch, specializing in the design and manufacturing of home furnishing accessories.

My Role

Research, product design & development, brand development, e-commerce site, and marketing assets.

Why

A startup, from scratch, Lemongrass Décor was a complete project - branding, packaging, visual assets, and an e-commerce site.

What

Goals were set to develop an understanding of the desired company identity, end-user personas, and an understanding of desired sales channels.

How

For this startup, which was on a tight budget, methods included a competitive audit, stakeholder interviews, and the use of basic online consumer surveys.

E-commerce Website

The requirement of an e-commerce site was a large part of the Lemongrass Décor project. To develop this within budget, in the required time, and provide for a simplistic CMS, the proven WordPress theme 'Storefront' was customized and Woo-commerce was used to integrate the product management and sales. Stripe was selected as the main payment gateway.

Product Design & Development

I was responsible for designing and developing every product. In addition to the research, ideation, motif development, trend styling, and product specifications (CADs) for manufacturing, I also created 3D renderings to demonstrate the final products.

Product Trend Boards

Trends were flushed out based on competitive market research and using existing knowledge of the home fashion industry. Final trend boards were created to show the correlation of selected categories with the newly designed first samples.

Product Design

For each product designed, motifs were created to match the targeted style - these were used for manufacturing the products, for the technical CADs, and for creating the 3D renderings. The below examples are for the Fortaleza design which is now a huge sales success on Wayfair.

3D renderings were produced for all of the new product designs. These were helpful in demonstrating the final product direction and for pre-sales customer meetings.
